María Inés Gómez
Psychotherapist
I have spent more than thirty years working and studying in health and wellbeing. I began as a surgical scrub nurse in cardiac surgery, and that first contact with the body at its most vulnerable shaped everything that came afterwards.
My work brings together psychotherapy and the body. I come from Gestalt Therapy — I am a full member of the AETG — and from somatic psychotherapy in Biosynthesis, and in recent years I have continued training in psychoneuroimmunology and polyvagal theory, which is the most honest way I know of understanding why the body responds as it does to stress and to connection.
I work with individual adults and young people, with couples, and with therapy groups. Alongside my practice, I teach on the Biosynthesis Master's programme and am part of the Social Clinic Area team.
